Aesop Fragrance: Hwyl and Marrakech Review

January 10, 2018

Aesop is an Australian company first established in 1987. They sell skin, hair and body care products for people and animals. They also recently diversified into room sprays and deodorants. Their products are made from plant-based and lab-made ingredients. This is definitely one of our favourite skincare brand because of the nice herbally smells and that the bottles are usually glass which means we can reuse them.

Aesop Fragrance: Hwyl and Marrakech Review

We have been considering and prolonging our purchase of the new Hwyl fragrance release for a few months. We finally decided to buy it whilst in London. The Marrakech was received as a gift. Both fragrances come in Aesop’s iconic brown glass bottles. Although Aesop has 3 fragrances, we didn’t purchase Tacit as it was too floral for our liking and just wasn’t our kind of scent. Nonetheless, let’s compare side by side the two fragrances that we do have.

Aesop Hwyl Eau de Parfum

Aesop Marrakech Intense roller

DescriptionAn intriguing fragrance with a hint of eccentricity. Reminiscent of a Hinoki forest, smoky notes descend into subtle spice and dark green, earthy accords. Eau de Parfum for men and women. The most potent form of our woody, oriental fragrance, which is balanced by fresh floral top and heart notes, and a hint of the animalistic. Travel-friendly size.

The GoodThe fragrance lasts all day

Fragrance smells somewhat charming and alluring

The spray on the bottle excellently distributes the perfume and creates a nice fine mist.

So easy to bring on the plane and travelling in general because it is slim and light (I usually carry this in my makeup pouch)

Fragrance is very warming and calming

It also allows for direct application to the insides of my wrist and neck.

The BadHigh price tag means it might be a one time purchaseDoesn’t last very long (about half a day)

The roller application makes me nervous when I don’t have the bottle standing upright because I’m afraid that it might leak (but it hasn’t so far)

If you do decide to purchase this fragrance, I would advise to go in store to try all 3 fragrances as they are quite dependent on your preferences and skin pheromones. Also, the staff are so lovely and package each product with a spritz of room spray on the bag.
