48 hours in Lisbon

January 20, 2018
Lisbon 28 Train

Lisbon, the city of 7 hills. With low expectations in our pockets we explore yet another european city. Surprisingly, Lisbon blew us away with its charm and we now consider it our favourite city thus far!

Some highlights include:

  • Great weather (maybe because we are comparing it to London) at least 10 degrees warmer
  • Wide streets and high ceilings – due to the earthquake 250 years ago, Lisbon decided to rebuild their city earthquake-proof which means that the streets are alot wider than usual in the city, the structures are more open and high.
  • Vegan restuarant – go on an empty stomach
  • Hotel was nice and they upgraded us to a room with a view of Rossio Square
  • Beauty and granduer
  • Not too touristy at all
  • Sunset by the beach in the city

Let’s get into the pictures.

Beautiful poreclain tiles are sold everywhere and used to decorate the buildings in the city which is another way that make this city so charming.

The view from our balcony. We stayed on the 4th floor of the hotel.

The hotel’s restuarant.

Seagull birds are displayed on the wall and throughout the city which we’re guessing because the city is so close to the beach that they revere these birds.

Here’s one of the plates that we had at the vegan restaurant. It’s a buffet and at only 7.50 Euro per person at lunch – make sure you go on an empty stomach! http://www.jardimdascerejas.com/

Taking the hotel’s recommendation, we take an elevator in a supermarket Pingo to get to the roof terrace area.

One of the many city centre churches.

We found a free way to get into the Tower Elevator – just walk in a different way and save your euros 🙂 Here’s the view from the top.

This was one of the main strips in Lisbon. Classical musicans play the violin, cello or guitar and it just echos along the corridors of this street.

Beautiful voice. Well played.

Monastry in Belem.

Inside the iconic 28 Tram – this tram takes you up through the Almafa area which you breaking a sweat! It is a powerful and agile tram that stops for no one! Hop on and off as swiftly as you can or bear a limb getting caught in the doors.

Almafa at night. What a romantic way to spend the evening. The sound of the coast, the quiet chatter of the small streets. Just chill.

These are always cool. Signs of patience, determination and beauty.

We were so lucky to happen to be on the beach when the sunset was setting.

    Hi Juliennely,
You are so fortunate to have discovered this great City. It is my favourite so much so I plan to move there. You have taken great photographs. I love the #28 tram. BikePOP is the Brompton shop there (they rent B’s).
    Cheers,
    Chris
